CONCERT ON THE POINT
A TREMENDOUS SUCCESS

Many Florida performers donated their time and talent to help save Three Sisters Springs. Featured above is Florida Songstory (l-r Lee and Betsy Paulet).

The Concert on the Point, where Florida Folk Singers sang their songs about their love of Florida and what is happening to it, was a tremendous success. People came early, lugging their chairs, clutching their $10 donation tickets and spread out all over the huge lot on the waterfront by Kings Springs..

It was beautiful, breezy and cooling. Some people gathered together in circles out by the water and sat chatting and listening to the music. Others sat in front of the stage that was in front of three tall palms and watched a fabulous array of Florida’s sons and daughters -- some 5th generation Floridians -- weave their tales of Florida in song. There was also a poetess reading her poem about manatees and Shawandasee did native storytelling.

The performers donated their time and talent and expenses to get there to help us Save Three Sisters Springs. It was an inspiring evening and the ticket donations brought in over $3,000, a lot of toe tapping music, and a fervent wish when we do it again, it will be for the ribbon cutting at the Three Sisters Springs property.

It’s close to happening. So close. And when it does all the people who came to the Concert on the Point, between The Port Hotel and the USFWS’ Refuge office in Crystal River, will be able to point to Three Sisters Springs and proudly say, “I helped buy that.”

Many Thanks to Our Great Performers!
