Celebrate the day of love with a manatee gift adoption from Save the Manatee Club. All 33 manatees in the Club’s Adopt-A-Manatee® program are real and either live in the wild or at a rehabilitation facility in Florida. Each thoughtful manatee adoption given as a Valentine’s Day gift helps to educate others about this unique, gentle animal and supports the Club’s many conservation programs.

Manatee Valentine's Ornament
A individually handcrafted manatee heart ornament is included with every gift adoption of $55 or more (supplies are limited).

“After spending seven Valentine’s Days together, I was really looking for something different to give to Paul,” explained Whitney Michielssen from Central Florida, as to why she chose a manatee gift adoption over something more traditional for this special occasion. “When I saw that I could adopt a manatee, I planned a picnic lunch at Blue Spring State Park in Orange City so that we could see the manatees together. I picked Floyd for Paul from the Club’s adoption program, and it’s one of the best gifts I have ever given him.”

Each manatee gift adoption includes the photo, biography and adoption certificate of an individual manatee. In addition, each gift recipient receives a membership handbook filled with manatee information. They also receive the Club’s quarterly newsletter, The Manatee Zone, and the bi-monthly e-newsletter, Paddle Tales. Gift recipients can follow the antics of “their” adopted manatees throughout the year. All this is available for $25 per tax-deductible gift, with free postage within the United States. For $55 or more, gift recipients also get a individually handcrafted manatee heart ornament with every gift adoption (supplies are limited). See photos and a list of the manatees available for adoption on the Club’s website at savethemanatee.org/adoptees.

Save the Manatee Club turns 35 this year. The international nonprofit conservation and manatee welfare organization was co-founded in 1981 by singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett and former U.S. Senator Bob Graham, when he was governor of Florida. The Club works to safeguard endangered manatees to ensure a long-term future for them and for Florida’s beleaguered aquatic ecosystems. The Club assists with funding for rescue, rehabilitation, and release efforts in America and abroad; helps to expand and protect the manatee’s winter warm-water habitat; obtains improved boat speed zones in areas frequented by manatees; produces and distributes education materials, and raises public awareness.

“Manatee conservation is critical,” said Whitney. “I can’t imagine a world without them, and I hope that we never have to experience that.”Get More Info:
