Caught on the Webcam: A curious manatee and a very large alligator check out a tagged manatee's floating transmitter on Christmas Day at Blue Spring State Park. Adoptee Lenny is also located in the bottom right of the video.

 
Aqua the manatee and her calf Astro.

New adoptee Aqua and her male calf Astro were spotted by Manatee Specialist Wayne Hartley on December 7, 2016 at Blue Spring State Park. You can adopt Aqua or other manatees at savethemanatee.org/adopt

 

It was exciting to get news of a new calf at Blue Spring soon after the New Year. Watch the sweet video footage of manatee Lemon and her little calf named Lime, as suggested by Save the Manatee Club's Facebook followers. The calf was born around January 9th. Whiskers the manatee

Whiskers was captured on camera on December 19, 2016. He made his first vist to Blue Spring in November.

 
Lucille the manatee.

Lucille made her first appearance at the end of November and has made several visits since that time. Here she is on December 19, 2016.

Gator the manatee.

Here is Gator on December 19, 2016. You can clearly see the large scars that make him easy to identify.

 
Annie the manatee

Annie was counted as in for the season on November 16th. Annie’s calf, born in the spring run in August, was also with her. No word yet on whether the calf is a boy or a girl.

Merlin the manatee

Cora Berchem, the Club's Multimedia Specialist, did a manatee count on January 1st and got a New Year's present. She discovered Merlin! It was his first Blue Spring appearance in over a year. See if you can match up Merlin's scars on Wayne Hartley's Blue Spring scar chart.

 
Lily the manatee

Lily was a first day arrival for the manatee season, along with fellow adoptee Floyd. Here she is on December 23, 2016.

Doc the Manatee

In mid December, Cora Berchem, Save the Manatee Club's Multimedia Specialist, did a manatee count and filmed Doc! Doc has made a couple other visits to Blue Spring since that time, too.

 
Flash the manatee

Flash, looking like he is living up to his name, as he zips by Manatee Specialist Wayne Hartley's camera at the end of November 2016.

 
Rocket the manatee

Rocket finally made it home from the spring to our north and was spotted at Blue Spring by Wayne Hartley on January 24, 2017. He has a new scar, but he is okay.

Lenny provided us with some nice photo ops on a visit to Blue Spring around January 25th. .
