Lucille the manatee at Blue Spring State Park

Lucille (at right) with a friend at Blue Spring State Park on January 24, 2014. If you look closely at Lucille, you can see that she is missing half her right flipper. This was due to monofilament line that got wrapped so tightly around the flipper, it cut off the circulation and she lost the lower half. Luckily, Lucille is still able to get around and continues to be active. Please remember: don't leave your line behind! Recycle used fishing line or throw it in a proper trash container.
