Come to a public forum on manatees in Deltona, Florida, on December 1st

Save the Manatee Club (SMC) is presenting a public forum on manatees at the Lyonia Environmental Center in Deltona, Florida, on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Blue Spring Alliance. 

SMC staff will be discussing the Blue Spring manatees, the recently-installed manatee webcams, and larger water and spring-related conservation issues. Manatee Specialist Wayne Hartley will talk about his research with the Blue Spring manatees. A former park ranger at Blue Spring, Wayne has served for over three decades as Principal Investigator for manatee research conducted at the park. Executive Director and Aquatic Biologist, Patrick M. Rose will discuss the Blue Spring webcams, which will be accompanied by webcam footage. Dr. Katie Tripp, Director of Science and Conservation for the Club, will address manatee and water conservation issues and give tips on how the public can protect manatees and their habitat. 

The forum will be held at the center’s auditorium. Bring a friend and receive a free one-year manatee adoption and a SMC 2013 wall calendar for your friend.
