To kick off our 25th anniversary, Save the Manatee Club is starting a new program for members only.

We are offering six exclusive kayak tours that will take place in Crystal River, Florida. Crystal River is home to hundreds of manatees during the winter months. Space is limited, so sign up now!

"Save the Manatee Club has always endorsed passive observation when comes to manatee viewing," says Judith Vallee, Executive Director for the Club. "We don't support swimming with manatees or disturbing their natural behavior, but we do want our members to be able to view manatees with an emphasis on doing it the right way. What better way to see manatees than from a kayak?"

The dates for the Do Not Disturb Tours are as follows:

Wednesday, December 14, 2005
Sunday, December 25, 2005
Wednesday, January 4, 2006
Sunday, January 15, 2006 -- CLOSED, No Openings Available
Wednesday, January 25, 2006

The kayak tours are $40 per person and include an experienced guide; kayak rental, paddle, and life jacket; and a "goody bag" of manatee items. Tours are limited to 10 - 20 participants. Participants must be Save the Manatee Club members and are responsible for all travel and hotel, meals, and incidental expenses.

The Port Hotel and The Comfort Inn in Crystal River are offering discounted rooms to all tour participants and are making a donation to the Club for each room booked. Aardvark's Florida Kayak Company is also making a donation to the Club.

For more information and to reserve your spot, please call Angie Irvin toll-free at Save the Manatee Club at 1-800-432-JOIN (5646) or send an e-mail to Please allow a two-week notice to book your tour.
