Manatee Menagerie To Conclude With Live Auction and Waterfront Concert
 |
The Outdoor Arts Foundation announced today that its popular Manatee Menagerie project will conclude on Saturday, November 18th with a live auction and beachfront concert. The event will take place from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Sirata Beach Resort and Conference Center in St. Pete Beach, FL. Club Trini, consisting of members of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band, will headline the event with Tom Gribbin and the Saltwater Band opening. Tampa favorite Chris Murphy will also play a set prior to the live auction.
For the past two years, whimsically designed fiberglass manatees have toured locations such as Westfield Citrus Park, Brandon & Countryside, Ruth Eckerd Hall and the Clearwater Main Library. All of the manatees are currently on display on the transfer level of Tampa International Airport and will remain on display through the beginning of November 2006.
For the auction, 27 of the colorful creations will be featured with starting bids ranging from $1,500 to $2,000. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to help manatee and animal rescue based organizations such as the Save the Manatee Club and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
Tickets to the event which includes admission to the concert and auction and complimentary hor d’ourves start at $150 with VIP tables for 10 being offered at $2,000. Special room rates are also available at the Sirata for those wishing to make a weekend out of the event.
